Woodlouse Industries is based in West Sussex, and supplies timber and woodland products, all sourced from within the local area
A little more about us
Biography: My name is William Wallace- I run a small timber supply business, specialising in locally sourced wood products. I am based near Horsham in West Sussex. I’ve operated a Wood Mizer mobile sawmill for over 10 years, mainly cutting customers timber out on site for their own Oak framing, cladding, joinery work and fencing and landscape projects.
Much of my site sawmilling work has been for local authorities, conservation bodies and National Trust properties; many of whom are keen to make use of their own timber with all of the ecological and financial benefits that has to offer. Timber for access works such as bridge building, boardwalks and decks, steps, pond dipping platforms and loads of fencing material are regularly milled, and other projects such as play areas, tree houses, seating, educational shelters and wildlife hides have been cut in the past.
I have been involved with timber supply and conversion (sawing) for traditional building repair and modern contemporary timber design, and I enjoy using lesser used species that grow well in West and East Sussex and Surrey, including Sweet Chestnut, Douglas Fir, Western Red Cedar, Alder and Poplar.
I’ve always done quite a bit of timber supply and building alongside the sawmill work, projects have included garden studios, pergolas, bridges, log sheds, decks, gazebos and A-frame structures.
Having started Woodlouse Industries, I have now moved a little more towards the workshop side of things and the supply of machined and finished produce- with the focus still being on sturdy local timber and a good service life outdoors with the minimum amount of treatments and surface finishes.
It’s especially satisfying to see a job through from felling and processing to final build and completion, all without a visit to a normal timber merchant. So, if there’s something that you’d like made for the house or garden that you can’t find through normal commercial channels, we’ll probably be able to help.

Thanks, Will Wallace
